Spending money and eating are two of the ways we “self medicate” for anxiety and depression. Many turn to alcohol, but I know that’s not you. I don’t know if you have considered counseling or therapy, but I would recommend it. My last therapist used to joke that she didn’t have to do much beyond listen to me talk and process. I’m very proud of you for tackling these two big issues. You are absolutely correct about retirement and illness. I got laid off last year and ended up retiring at 61. This year I have and continue to face on going autoimmune health issues. The past three months would have been very difficult had I been trying to hold a job. Part of why I was ok to retire? I had ZERO debt. No credit card, no mortgage. Car paid off but reliable even at 11 years old. So, you go, Andy! You got this!
I'm glad you've been able to navigate these challenges as well as you have. I've been seeing a therapist for many years and I'm in a similar boat where I unload all things things I've figured out through self-reflection and she says it makes her job easier. :-)

This is the perfect example that no matter at what stage you are in life, you can change the outcomes by:
- deciding you want to improve,
- crafting a strategy,
- showing up consistently.
Congratulations, Andrew. 🙏
Thank you!
